RICHARD SAX, ATTORNEY
Richard Sax was raised to value integrity, public service, and helping others. While growing up in Washington State and British Columbia, Richard worked with his father, the town mayor, in the family title business. Richard’s mother was a nurse, hospital administrator, and state legislator. Both of his parents were saddened when they saw people lose their homes because they lacked legal representation. They urged him to practice law to equalize the playing field and help people deal with the intricacies of our legal system.
When Richard established his law practice, he began taking on “big city” attorneys and large law firms that aim to exhaust their adversaries, both financially and emotionally. That’s why Richard became a lawyer—to equalize the playing field by fighting for people’s rights, and to work tirelessly to bring them justice.
In 40 years of trial practice, Richard has successfully undertaken a wide variety of legal cases. He practices civil litigation, real estate law, divorce and family law, personal injury/wrongful death, business law, foreclosure defense, and criminal defense. Richard is licensed to provide full representation in state, federal, appellate, and supreme courts.
DIANE BROOKS, SENIOR PARALEGAL
Diane has been with our law firm since 1999, providing litigation support in state, federal, and appellate courts. Diane earned a paralegal certificate from Sonoma State University in 1999, after majoring in liberal arts and political science at Monterey Peninsula College and Sonoma State University. Before earning her paralegal certificate, Diane worked in business, education, and at Kaiser Permanente, where she was elected Union Steward. After becoming a paralegal, Diane interned with the Sonoma County Family Law Facilitator, now the Hon. Louise Bayles-Fightmaster, and the Sonoma County TRO Clinic, and was the first paralegal to successfully complete an internship at the office of the Marin County Counsel. Currently, Diane works on real estate law, foreclosure defense, and civil litigation, assisting with motions for summary judgment, jury trials, and appeals. Away from the office, Diane enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and likes to read, cook, hike, and travel. Diane has two grown children—a daughter who is a registered nurse and a son who is an engineer.
